PROCEDURES FOR COLLEGE VISITS
AND
MEETING WITH COLLEGE REPRESENTATIVES

COLLEGE VISITS
Students are encouraged to visit college campuses.  Seniors are allowed five (5) days of excused absences to visit colleges.  These can be taken during the fall or spring semesters.

Students must pick up a college visit form in the Upper School office at least one week prior to the trip.  The form must be signed by a parent, the principal or assistant principal, the college counselor and each of the student's teachers.  Once all the signatures have been secured, the form must be returned to the Upper School office.

Students are required to complete all work missed during the college trip.

Scheduling visits often can be difficult because of athletic commitments and other responsibilities during the school year.  You might want to consider using spring break, summer and holiday weekends to visit colleges.

VISITS TO PEMBROKE HILL BY COLLEGE REPRESENTATIVES
Each fall nearly 80 colleges send representatives to our school to meet with students.  These visits are scheduled during the school day and require that students be excused from class.  The Student Government President will announce the schedule during assembly.  A list of visiting colleges is posted near the College Counseling Center and on the Web at phscollege.com/visits.html.

Seniors may visit with as many college representatives as necessary, provided that there is a genuine interest in the college.

Seniors must request permission from appropriate teachers at least one day before a visit to be excused from class.  It is the student's responsibility to complete all missed assignments.

If you have a test or quiz during the college visit, and cannot miss class, notify your college counselor who will mention this to the representative.

Arrive promptly and introduce yourself.  These visits are an opportunity to make a good impression on the representative (who may well be the same person who reads your application later on!).  Use this time wisely and productively.
